Since 2018, a Himalayan footbridge, unique in Occitanie, has spanned the Arnette gorges in Mazamet. Exceptional views of the valley, access to the medieval village of Hautpoul, and thrilling experiences are all part of the program for this perfect family outing!
Great Escape
Reaching the footbridge is first and foremost about enjoying a beautiful walk in the Montagne Noire : several paths with variations are possible. The walk usually starts at the Jamarié car park on the outskirts of Mazamet, then ascends more or less gently and for a longer or shorter distance through the forest, depending on the chosen trail, towards the famous footbridge. Remember to wear good shoes!

Designed with respect for the environment, this footbridge blends seamlessly into the natural landscape of the Montagne Noire. Open 24/7, crossing the 140m long and 70m high footbridge is sure to provide a thrill! Suspended in mid-air, you can also enjoy a splendid view of the valley and the town of Mazamet.

Since summer 2022 , experience the thrill of the brand new Via Ferrata and its incredible zip lines located right under the footbridge! Stretching 1300 meters, with 4 zip lines, including one 200 meters long, 8 beams and rope bridges, and an equipped rock face, it ends just below the castle in the village of Hautpoul. Located very close to the footbridge, the Mazamet Via Ferrata is the newest tourist attraction in the Hautpoul area.

Bring sports or hiking shoes, a cap and sunglasses in summer.
Absolutely must be photographed! Some sublime viewpoints, in particular those from the Virgin's rock or the terraces of the old castle.
For the Via Ferrata: Free route open from sunrise to sunset. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can be rented (mandatory) at the Tourist Office: Equipment reservations
